Re: Video Deriviation doesn't work |
Your problem can be easily fixed, since you have .avi files. My problem required a moderator or an administrator to be fixed, since I have Real Video files.
Here is how your problem can be fixed. Click on "Edit" at the top of the page. Click on "change the information", then click on "Item Manager" and finally click on "Derive". After waiting around 1-150 hours, your problem will be fixed.

Re: Video Deriviation doesn't work |
I did it 3 times. But the files aren't getting derived.

Re: Video Deriviation doesn't work |
it takes time to finish -- they don't just show up in seconds.
figure 2-4x the overall length of the videos in time.
so if you uploaded ~10 hours of video, starting worrying after ~40 hours if you're still not seeing anything 8-)

Re: Video Deriviation doesn't work |
When the files are deriving, and one clicks "Edit" and "change the information", then one will see a special message. (Look at the attached picture to see the special message.) When the deriviation is finished, that special message disappears.
As for me, I clicked "derive", and that special message appeared. After that special message disappeared, the REAL MEDIA files did not derive.
Again, I clicked "derive". After that special message disappeared, the Real Media files did NOT derive.
If you don't believe me, try uploading a Real Media (.rm) file yourself and you will see that the system does not derive .rm files.
Please correct the system, so that it would derive Real Media would derive. Thank You

Re: Video Deriviation doesn't work |
sorry, no opensource alternative A/V codecs for *some*
variants/versions of real encoded files.
it's pretty hit-or-miss.
this is a "won't fix", sorry about that.

Re: Video Deriviation doesn't work |
Well, I've hosted more than 1800 videos (200 Gb) in archive and I know how it should work.
The derivation task just finishes without deriving all the files. I ran the task 5 times now. Each time, some of the files are getting derived and other not. And this is not normal.

Re: Video Deriviation doesn't work |
Thank you for your time and patience.
For instance, the file Annafs_Wal7ayaat_60 has been uploaded before Annafs_Wal7ayaat_78. When the derivation task finished, Annafs_Wal7ayaat_78 was derived and Annafs_Wal7ayaat_60 was not. This happened many times. Fortunately, with the 6th derivation task, all the files got derived, but I believe this is not normal. Is it?

Re: Video Deriviation doesn't work |
neither item exists.
eg:
http://www.archive.org/details/Annafs_Wal7ayaat_78for your information, if you upload two items, A and B
derivations can finish for B before A or A before B,
depending on various factors.
but the derivations for A and B should happen,
and there is no need to derive more than once.
